Position

Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Contract Specialist.

In this role, the successful candidate as the Contract Specialist is a member of the Supply Chain Management team and supports the Strategic Sourcing function. This role is responsible for managing the full lifecycle of contracts within Strategic Sourcing. In partnership with Strategic Sourcing, the Contract Specialist will draft, review, redline, and negotiate contracts within the framework established by the NYU Langone Health Office of the General Counsel (OGC), while ensuring compliance with enterprise policies and procedures.

The Contract Specialist will develop and apply subject matter expertise across key strategic sourcing categories, such as Clinical Services, Corporate Services & Real Estate Dev & Facilities (RED&F) to effectively support the Strategic Sourcing team. This role will primarily support Clinical Services and Professional Services agreements. The successful candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and help ensure the timely execution of contracts.

The Contract Specialist will work closely with internal stakeholders, including Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, Legal, IT, Clinical teams, and business teams, to ensure contracts align with organizational goals and operational needs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Review and draft contracts, including vendor agreements, service agreements, master agreements, statements of work (SOWs), and related documents
  • Negotiate and redline contract terms with vendors and partners independently or in collaboration with Strategic Sourcing, escalating to Sourcing Leadership or the Office of the General Counsel as needed
  • Manage contract databases and ensure accurate tracking of contract terms, milestones, and renewals
  • Monitor and report on contract performance and compliance
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure contracts align with organizational and mission-driven goals
  • Provide guidance and support to internal teams on contract-related matters in accordance with OGC guidelines
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of contract management processes, procedures, and administration of internal contract management systems (CMS)
  • Assist with training, coaching, and onboarding of new contract management team members or Sourcing team members
  • Perform other Supply Chain Management or contract-related duties as needed
Minimum Qualifications

To qualify you must have a Bachelors degree in Business, Law, or a related field or Juris Doctor 5+ years of experience in contract management or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Preferred experience in the healthcare industry and/or with facilities, IT, and professional services contracts
  • Experience utilizing AI for contract drafting and negotiation
  • Strong understanding of contract principles and practices
  • Strong critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze and clearly communicate complex issues
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with contract management software
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
