RESPONSIBILITIES:As a Soft Goods Product Developer, you’ll concept new products, manage your own development timelines, work with designers, factory managers, and collaborate closely with the Velvet Caviar founder and Product Director.
Your primary responsibilities:
- Lead product development for new soft goods bags in tech and travel
- Collaborate with designers to draft 2D sketches of final soft goods
- Convert 2D design sketches into complete, factory-ready tech packs
- Communicate with the overseas factories daily on developments
- Organize and present samples for final approval from leadership
- Prepare and submit tech packs for approved purchase orders
- Supervise the initial production timelines for strict on time delivery
- Negotiate pricing on new development amongst multiple vendors
- Collaborate with packaging designers for new product developments
- Report quarterly on product landscape, trends, and opportunities
- Report on new development consumer feedback and improvements
Create hyper organized systems for tracking your developments - Source, screen, and negotiate with new vendors as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Design or Production
- Minimum 3-5 years developing bags or soft goods
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator preferred
- Track record of launching new products and styles
- Experienced working with factories in China, etc.
- Highly organized and timeline oriented (PLM experience)
- Comfortable working in a fast paced work environment
- Strong analytical skills for factories and product samples
- Impeccable communication, costing, and negotiation skills
- Creative thinker, strong problem solver, and positive attitude
- Able to conduct extensive research and present thoroughly
- Comfortable talking to vendors in the early morning or evening
- Comfortable with a hybrid schedule (2 days/week in office)
