Position: Lead Snowflake DBA (Contract to Hire)
Location: New York

We are seeking an experienced Lead Snowflake DBA to join our Data Engineering team. This role is integral to the success of our next-generation data warehouse environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Snowflake's technology, with a proven track record of optimizing query performance, throughput, and costs to support business objectives.

What you’ll do:
  • Oversee the administration and management of our Snowflake data warehouse, ensuring its optimal performance, security, and reliability.
  • Design, implement, and monitor data management policies and procedures to ensure data security, accessibility, and availability.
  • Collaborate with data analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and implement solutions to meet these needs efficiently.
  • Conduct regular performance analysis of Snowflake usage & tuning to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage Snowflake security including roles, permissions, and access controls to protect sensitive data.
  • Lead data migration projects, including schema definitions, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
  • Keep abreast of new Snowflake features and technologies, advocating for and implementing upgrades and enhancements as appropriate.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior DBAs and other team members.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for database architectures, configurations, and processes.
What you’ll bring:
  • Strong understanding of database design, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Expertise in SQL and experience with ETL tools and techniques.
  • Proficiency in data modeling and data architecture.
  • Knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and how they integrate with Snowflake. AWS expertise is preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and a commitment to maintaining high-quality data standards.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Expertise with SQL Server and Postgres in addition to Snowflake.
  • Expertise managing Snowflake SSO configuration and access policies
  • Expertise managing Snowflake role hierarchies.
  • Up to date knowledge of Snowflake’s latest features.
  • Proficiency with Git version control.
  • Proficiency with Python programming language.
Ideal education/experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a DBA, with at least 2 years focused on Snowflake.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a software development role.
  • Previous experience as a team manager, lead, or mentor.

This position will have an hourly rate of up to $100/hour. The successful candidate will be employed through Noor Staffing Group, LLC.
