Network Operations Specialist II XVIII ABC Hub and Spoke MTCs provide individual and collective training on Army Mission Command Systems, using a variety of tools and Army fielded systems. These systems are used to support Small Unit Training:
Squads through Company, Medium Unit Training:
Battalion through Brigade, and Large Unit Training:
Divisions and Corps in training environments ranging from Stability and Support Operations (SSO) through Unified Land Operations (ULO). WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT:
- Monitors and responds to hardware and software problems utilizing a variety of hardware and software testing tools and techniques.
- Installs and configures network hardware and software.
- Provides network troubleshooting and support.
- Provides technical support and training for end-users.
- Exercise network protocols, architectures, and security measures like VPN and IDS/IPS.
- Ensures the cybersecurity Risk Management process and appropriate operational security posture is maintained and documented for the MTC Type Training Enclaves and MTC Training Exercise Network.
- Backs up file server data/disks.
- Provides minor to moderately complex server maintenance.
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned.
- Understands the OSI model for troubleshooting, layer 1 and 2 virtualization.
- Safeguards the network against unauthorized infiltration, modification, destruction, or disclosure.
- May serve as a task or team lead; not a people manager.
- Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required to support customer requirements.
Education:
BA/BS (in a Computer Science or related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training/work experience)
Required Experience:3+ years of relevant experience;
Military and MTC experience preferred

Required TechnicalSkills:
- Knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network troubleshooting and support.
- Knowledge of routers, switches, patch panels, concentrators, associated terminals, and related network hardware and software.
- Knowledge of desktop operating systems and applications.
- Possess the general knowledge and diagnostic abilities to solve network technical problems associated with maintaining a large training complex network.
- Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills and able to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Must be well‑versed in general system administration and networking principles including operating system configuration for Windows 11 and Windows 2022 Server, and Linux systems.
- Experienced with analyzing network security architectures and creating network design diagrams that provide port, protocol, and service details.
- Experience with DoD and US Army IAVM tracking and reporting.
- Experience with the implementation of network Cybersecurity Best Practices and formulating remediation guidance for supported platforms.
- Possess knowledge of Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, and NX-OS; dynamic routing; fiber and module operations, GRE tunnel configuration, VLANS and trunking.
Baseline Certification - CompTIA Security+, IAW DoD 8570.01-M required.
Computing Environment Certification IAW DoD 8570.01-m required, IAT level II
