đď¸ About Gov Well
We the people (and the taxpayers) deserve good government â but today, interacting with government services is often frustrating and inefficient. Gov Well is building the AI-powered platform that transforms how governments serve communities, starting with local agencies.
Our first product helps municipal and county governments modernize complex services like permitting and licensing. Gov Well combines a highly configurable SaaS system of record with generative AI that automates work for staff, guides residents through services, and is radically simple to deploy.
Founded in 2023, Gov Well powers 3,000+ critical processes for agencies in 29 states serving millions of residents. Weâve raised $9.5M in seed funding from Work-Bench and Bienville Capital, and work in person at our HQ in New York City. Read more about our founding story in Tech Crunch.
âď¸ Why Gov Well?A mission that matters: Building AI-powered products to fix outdated government systems isnât just a technical challengeâitâs a historic opportunity to improve our foundational relationship with government and ensure trillions of tax dollars result in high quality services.

Gov Well is hiring a Data Solutions Engineer to help governments transition from legacy systems to modern software. Youâll own customer data migrations and GIS onboarding end-to-end, working directly with government teams to map schemas, validate data, and ensure accurate, complete data is loaded into Gov Wellâs platform.
This role reports directly to Ben Cohen, Co-Founder and CTO, and works closely with Product, Engineering, and Deployment to make onboarding faster, more reliable, and increasingly repeatable as Gov Well scales.
We have a hybrid work culture that combines regular in-person collaboration at our New York City office (3+ days per week) with flexibility to work remotely.
đť What youâll doExecute customer data migrations and GIS onboarding end-to-end, working directly with government staff to understand source systems, configure mappings and ingestion settings, run validations and dryâruns, and ensure accurate, complete data is loaded into Gov Well.
Own onboarding data quality and correctness by identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and edge cases in legacy data; making documented judgment calls within defined constraints, and preventing bad or unsafe data from entering production.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact during onboarding, leading customer calls, clearly explaining data requirements and tradeoffs, and guiding agencies through the transition from legacy systems to Gov Well with confidence.
Operate and improve repeatable onboarding processes using internal tools, templates, and playbooks to reduce time-to-launch, minimize manual work, and ensure migrations and GIS ingestion become increasingly predictable as volume scales.
Provide structured feedback to Product and Engineering teams by documenting recurring issues, unmet assumptions, and tooling gaps encountered during migrations, helping inform platform and process improvements without introducing oneâoff solutions.
