  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in an applied research setting, or similar.
  • Experience with qualitative research, quantitative research, usability testing, surveys, and data analysis.
  • Experience in both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, including interviews, usability testing, diary studies, card sorts, and surveys.
  • Experience with logs analysis, user experience measurement, and storytelling.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.
  • 7 years of experience working with executive leadership (e.g., Director level and above).
  • 5 years of experience managing projects, and working in a large, matrixed organization.

At Google, we "Focus on the user and all else will follow." As a User Experience Researcher (UXR), you make this possible. You will join our multi-disciplinary UX team, collaborating with Engineering and Product Management, to gather insights and create industry-leading products.

You’ll play a critical role in helping your team understand user needs and will drive impact at all stages of product development, ensuring products are useful, usable, and helpful. You will explore user behaviors and motivations by conducting primary research, including: field studies, interviews, diary studies, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis. You will also grow within a supportive UXR community offering mentorship, regular meetups, and exclusive internal tools.

As part of Lens on the Multimodal Search team, we're evolving Search to enable users to ask anything in any way. As Search goes through a deeper AI evolution with AI Mode and other emergent capabilities, it's critical to ensure the Multimodal Search product experience to be intuitive, seamless, and helpful. In this role, you will influence and steer the product strategy to a more multimodal, AI-forward experience, with a specific focus on Multimodal AI quality and model improvements anchored on real user needs.

You will also guide our product evolution towards a collaborative, more personalized, and multimodal-forward AI shopping experience.

US: $188000 - $274000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits
