Ovise is partnered with a leading global financial services firm, hiring a Hands-On Director of Engineering to join their Back Office Technology Group.
What you'll do- Own end-to-end delivery of engineering solutions supporting operations teams across the business
- Lead, mentor, and coach engineering teams tackling complex business problems
- Build and optimize systems using Python, Java, and SQL
- Design and maintain data integrations with third-party vendors, internal systems, and industry-standard portfolio management platforms
- Implement third-party tools to support fit-for-purpose operations functions
- Drive automation and apply generative AI and machine learning to improve operational efficiency
- 6+ years hands-on as a software engineer, designing, building, and running applications and data systems
- Proven track record in a senior engineering or technology leadership role
- Solid understanding of complex, structured investment products, or a comparable data-intensive asset class
- Strong grounding in database design, data structures, and algorithms
- Hands-on coding experience across SQL, Python, Power BI, Java, and similar tools
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure)
- Proven ability to lead and grow a team
- Sharp problem-solving instincts, strategic thinking, and real attention to detail
- Strong communicator, comfortable working across teams
