Google is seeking a Staff Product Data Scientist for the Communications & Time Management (CTM) Data Science team, focused on Gmail, Chat, and Calendar. This role supports product development and self-serve analytics by building metric frameworks and scalable analytics systems for a communications platform used by 3B+ users.
Working onsite in New York, NY, you will connect product engineering with central data infrastructure to deliver unified measurement, analytics infrastructure, and AI-aware evaluation methods across multiple Workspace domains.
Responsibilities- Lead research and development of metric frameworks that quantify user engagement and productivity
. - Develop methodologies to evaluate the effectiveness, user adoption, and efficiency gains of GenAI and agentic tooling embedded in Workspace products.
- Serve as a strategic connective tissue between product engineering and central data infrastructure teams.
- Marshal resources and influence partner roadmaps while driving complex, multi-team telemetry and infrastructure projects from inception through execution.
- Design and build scalable data models and analytical architecture that connect data across multiple distinct product domains, reducing isolated product-specific silos.
- Scope and drive initiatives to enable self-serve analytics
. - Design unified semantic layers, governed metric stores, and executive dashboards, while leading next-generation AI-powered self-serve tooling.
- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
- 10 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, including statistical analysis and coding (for example,
Python
, R,
SQL
), or 8 years work experience with a Master’s degree

$192,000 - $278,000 (USD) per year +
20% bonus target + equity + benefits.
