The Junior Insurance Underwriter plays a vital role in supporting the underwriting team by evaluating insurance applications, assessing risks, and determining coverage terms under the guidance of experienced staff. Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000 / Year DOE
Responsibilities- Review insurance applications, supporting documents, and client information for completeness and accuracy
- Conduct initial risk assessments using company guidelines, underwriting manuals, and rating systems
- Assist senior underwriters in analyzing applicant risk factors such as financial status, claims history, and property or industry characteristics
- Prepare quotes, proposals, and policy documentation under supervision
- Communicate with agents, brokers, and internal departments to gather additional information needed for underwriting decisions
- Input and maintain data in underwriting systems and databases with accuracy
- Assist in monitoring renewal accounts and assessing changes in exposure or risk level
- Support compliance with internal underwriting standards, regulatory guidelines, and company policies
- Participate in training sessions, workshops, and certifications to develop underwriting knowledge
- Provide general administrative support to the underwriting team as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Open to a fresh graduate looking to get into the industry; ideally 1-2 years of underwriting experience
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Familiarity with underwriting or CRM systems is a plus
- Experience in the insurance industry is preferred
- 50% of medical coverage for employees, eligible after 3 months
- 401K offered without a match
