Senior Underwriting Specialist, National Accounts, Excess Casualty
Join AIG as a Senior Underwriting Specialist to contribute to our industry‑leading Excess Casualty underwriting team. You will drive business growth, support underwriting best practices, and collaborate closely with partners.
Responsibilities- Exercise judgment, negotiate, and make sound business decisions with increased authority.
- Render alternative outcomes for challenging situations and make real‑time decisions in a fast‑paced, ambiguous environment.
- Support consistent underwriting best practices in accordance with guidelines to ensure rating, pricing, profitability, and structuring adequacy.
- Minimum 7–9 years of Commercial Insurance Company, Agency or Brokerage experience.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Advanced working knowledge of the NA Casualty lines of business including product features, forms, regulatory environments and risks.
- Demonstrated sales, marketing and relationship building experience.
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly motivated and results‑oriented.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to changing requirements and collaborating with a wide range of colleagues to deliver solutions quickly.
- Willingness to be flexible, learn on the job and maintain a can‑do attitude.
- Expert with underwriting analytical tools and technology.
- Collaborate with Distribution, Territory Managers and other line‑of‑business underwriters to target desirable accounts and cross‑sell opportunities from brokers.
- Utilize daily reports and monitor adherence to underwriting requirements and guidelines to oversee assigned book of business.
- Keep abreast of developments in assigned territories to determine their effect on current accounts and potential new business opportunities.
- Work with management, the insured, its broker and outside counsel on contract terms and conditions, pricing, terms & conditions, and deal structure for complex risks.
- Develop strong, long‑term relationships with brokers and clients to profitably grow a book of business.
- Handle special underwriting projects as needed.
- Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients.
