*** THIS POSITION IS BASED IN TMHCC SPECIALTY GROUP’S CRISIS MANAGEMENT DIVISION’S HEADQUARTERS LOCATION IN CHAPPAQUA, NY, WITH A 4/1 IN-OFFICE SCHEDULE. PLEASE CONSIDER THIS LOCATION AND IN-OFFICE REQUIREMENT BEFORE APPLYING.
***** Role Overview
** As a member of TMHCC Specialty Group’s Crisis Management division, you will be responsible for reviewing insurance applications to evaluate, classify, and rate each risk to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing. You will establish, maintain, and develop agency and/or broker relationships. In this role, you will have defined underwriting authority and business development responsibility for the Kidnap & Ransom book of business.
* ** Gain understanding of the underwriting process:
** During the first 30 days learn how to effectively evaluate the unique risks of kidnap and ransom by reviewing submissions and asking questions throughout the process.
* ** Review and Quote risks:
** During the first 90 days, be able to classify and assess risks, determine acceptability, assign ratings, indicate endorsements and limits, and determine appropriate pricing.
* ** Cultivate Relationships:
** During the first 6 months contact and respond to verbal and written inquiries from brokers within a designated period to provide appropriate information. Cultivate relationships with internal and external contacts to facilitate the underwriting process, promote business development, and remain abreast of industry trends. You can expect up to 30% of travel in this role.
* ** Find Creative Solutions:
** During the first 6 months and beyond show critical thinking skills by finding creative solutions to write the business and satisfy both the client and the risk-taker.
** Key Responsibilities
*** Evaluate new and renewal policy applications and related documents to classify and assess each risk, determine acceptability, assign rating, indicate endorsements and limits, and determine appropriate pricing.
* Manage a high volume of broker submissions by following structured work plans and meeting predefined turnaround-time goals.
* Meet or exceed established commitments on deadlines to maintain strong broker satisfaction and competitive market placement.
* Serve as a primary point of contact for brokers; build and maintain strong, collaborative market relationships to facilitate the underwriting process, promote business development, drive profitable premium growth, and stay abreast of industry trends.
* Articulate underwriting decisions, pricing rationale, and policy terms clearly and persuasively to brokers and direct manager.
* Gather market intelligence and broker feedback to identify new business opportunities and improve service delivery.
* Communicate production activities, risk appetite, and business results with management and cross-functional teams as appropriate**.
