As part of the US Casualty Treaty team, the candidate will develop, market, and underwrite profitable professional lines treaty accounts, with emphasis on risk assessment, contract language, and pricing. The role requires strong client management, collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, and effective communication and analytical skills. The candidate should be comfortable traveling and contributing to team objectives and internal projects.

Job Summary:

The position is responsible for developing, marketing, and underwriting US Professional Lines Treaty business. While skillful underwriting is paramount, the candidate should also be a team player, willing to contribute to the broader goals of the team. As such, the candidate must possess effective communication and project management skills, working with both external and internal stakeholders, including clients, brokers, SCOR teams, claims, actuarial, legal, strategy, and senior management.

The expectation is that the senior underwriter support training and development of less tenured underwriters.

We are looking for a candidate who is comfortable with open-ended challenges and can succinctly and confidently recommend solutions, understanding that the process is as important as the outcome. The candidate will be expected to assume client management responsibilities, which require strong communication skills and engagement across supporting functions and lines of business.

This position will be based in a SCOR office, either Chicago or New York City, and the candidate is expected to be in office several days per week. SCOR is committed to an  in-office  culture where people can collaborate, exchange ideas, and establish stronger working relationships, while still providing flexibility.   • Assess new and renewal professional liability treaty reinsurance programs; casualty lines may also be considered where the candidate has relevant experience.
  • Structure and negotiate appropriate terms and conditions that support SCOR appetite
  • Evaluate and negotiate contract wording
  • Evaluate and negotiate pricing in conjunction with actuarial support
  • Perform underwriting audits for current and potential clients
  • Discuss underwriting and management issues with executives at primary insurance client companies
  • Collaborate with Client Managers to support overall client relationship
  • Actively monitor market trends and engage in strategic discussions with internal and external parties.
  • Actively contribute to internal projects.
  • Support training and development of the broader team
