About

The Role

The Vice President, Actuarial serves as an actuarial lead for reinsurance and risk-transfer contracts across property, casualty, and specialty insurance coverages and products, providing clients and brokers with continuous support throughout the (re) insurance lifecycle. The VP brings deep expertise in a technical area, inputs to the strategic direction of the analytics team, and manages and develops actuarial staff. Clients include growing numbers of traditional carriers and MGAs, single-state and regional mutuals, innovative Insurtechs, multi-national specialty carriers, and captives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and review pricing analyses for proportional, excess of loss, and structured reinsurance deals using actuarially sound assumptions.
  • Develop and review dynamic stochastic models and perform reinsurance analyses to evaluate and compare different reinsurance strategies and pricing to meet client objectives.
  • Communicate analysis results and complex technical concepts related to (re) insurers, capital markets, and clients.
  • Support brokers in creating reinsurance submissions, pricing, structuring, and placing reinsurance, and evaluating new opportunities or partnerships.
  • Partner with clients and respond to technical queries from clients, reinsurers, and brokers regarding data, trends, or results from actuarial and industry studies.
  • Implement change and best practice within a specialist area; advise and support on enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Remain up-to-date and proficient in the latest actuarial methodologies, tools, and trends, and in new and emerging technologies relevant to the line of work.
  • Develop and maintain analytical tools, support execution of strategic plans, and contribute to Acrisure Re actuarial standards and best practices.
  • Contribute to internal research, development projects, whitepapers, and working groups.
  • Organize project workflow to meet relevant timelines (including more junior resources).
  • Creates a narrative of key broking points for a given deal, including supporting exhibits and documentation. Proactively considers potential challenges/questions and plans responses.
Skills, Experience, And Education
  • Bachelor's or higher degree, preferably in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related STEM field.
  • 7+ years of actuarial experience in a reinsurance pricing capacity.
  • FCAS or near-FCAS designation, with active progression toward FCAS strongly preferred. Career ACAS may be considered.
  • Actively maintains relevant Continuing Education requirements.
  • Proficiency of commercial, personal, cyber, and specialty lines (re) insurance products.
  • Proficiency with standardized (re) insurance pricing and reserving methodologies for property, casualty, specialty, and cyber coverages.
  • Proficiency with capital models and associated parameterization of pricing and reserve risk.
  • Proficiency with catastrophe models (RMS, AIR, Kat Risk, etc.), including their output and associated pricing approaches.
