We have an exciting opportunity for an Underwriter to join our Cyber – Wholesale underwriting team in a rapidly growing and dynamic segment. This role offers a unique opportunity to leverage your underwriting expertise and broker relationship skills to manage and grow a specialized wholesale cyber portfolio.

What you’ll be doing

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Portfolio Management & Growth:
    • Manage a diverse wholesale cyber insurance book, focusing on both renewal and new business opportunities.
    • Develop and execute strategic plans to expand the wholesale cyber portfolio in alignment with AXA XL’s overall business objectives.
    • Analyze market trends, emerging cyber risks, and client needs to identify new product opportunities and distribution channels.
  • Broker & Distribution Channel Engagement:
    • Build and maintain outstanding, productive relationships with wholesale brokers, agents, and distribution partners.
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to brokers, providing expert underwriting guidance and risk insights.
    • Conduct broker meetings, presentations, and negotiations to facilitate business development and portfolio growth.
    • Educate brokers and clients on evolving cyber risks, coverage options, and best practices to foster a deeper understanding of cyber insurance solutions.
  • Underwriting & Risk Evaluation:
    • Exercise self-supported judgment and technical expertise to evaluate complex cyber risks, ensuring profitable underwriting outcomes.
    • Review and analyze submission materials, risk data, and external information sources to assess risk quality.
    • Set appropriate terms, conditions, and pricing strategies for wholesale cyber accounts, balancing risk appetite and market dynamics.
    • Collaborate with actuaries, claims teams, and other stakeholders to refine risk selection and pricing models.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Work closely with underwriting, actuarial, claims, legal, and product teams to develop innovative solutions and improve underwriting practices.
    • Participate in industry conferences, client seminars, and internal knowledge-sharing initiatives to stay current on cyber risk trends and regulatory requirements.
  • Compliance & Best Practices:
    • Ensure all underwriting activities adhere to internal guidelines and external legal and regulatory standards.
    • Maintain thorough documentation of risk assessments and underwriting decisions.

You will report to the Underwriting Manager for the Cyber and Technology Group.

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Robust understanding of cyber and technology risks, data security, privacy, and related legal/regulatory frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success in managing broker relationships and driving business growth through distribution channels.
  • The ability to travel a minimum of 15% of the time is anticipated.
