Utica First Insurance Company seeks a Commercial Lines Underwriting Quality Specialist to strengthen the accuracy and consistency of our commercial portfolio. In this role, you'll perform detailed reviews of underwriting files, verify adherence to guidelines, rates, and regulatory requirements, and identify trends and training needs. You'll collaborate closely with underwriters and management to recommend process improvements, develop quality metrics, and support corrective actions.

This hybrid position offers the chance to deepen commercial P&C expertise within a collaborative, customer-focused culture driven by integrity and long-term relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Review commercial lines underwriting files for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to company guidelines and appetite.
  • Evaluate risk selection, pricing, and coverage structure to ensure portfolio quality and profitability.
  • Monitor compliance with internal controls, underwriting authority levels, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify quality trends, gaps, and training opportunities, and communicate findings to underwriting leadership.
  • Prepare clear audit reports, metrics, and recommendations for process and guideline improvements.
  • Collaborate with underwriters, trainers, and managers to implement corrective actions and best practices.
  • Support development and refinement of underwriting quality standards, scorecards, and review tools.
  • Assist with special projects, system enhancements, and testing related to underwriting and quality control.
