Location: New York

Ascot’s Summer Internship Program offers a unique opportunity to learn about the insurance industry within a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment. While the internship is primarily focused on actuarial, interns will gain exposure to a wide range of functional areas across the company, including actuarial, underwriting, claims, partnership engagement, reinsurance, legal and compliance, operations, and IT. Interns will engage in hands‑on learning, collaborate with experienced insurance professionals, and develop a comprehensive understanding of how these departments work together to assess risk and deliver client solutions.

Position:
Actuarial A Day in the Life of an Actuarial Intern May Include:
  • Using Excel, Python, or other actuarial software to perform actuarial analysis
  • Conducting research on industry benchmarks, claims data, and market trends to support underwriting decisions
  • Supporting the actuarial department across all three functions (Pricing, Reserving, and Alternative Risk)
  • Presenting research to internal teams such as actuarial, underwriting, and senior leaders
  • Participating in ascend learning activities and training sessions
A Successful Actuarial Intern Has:
  • Preferred majors:
    Actuarial Science, Mathematics/Applied Mathematics, Risk Management, Statistics, or other related fields
  • Must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate program
  • Expected undergraduate graduation year: 2027 or 2028
  • 0-2 years of working experience
  • Active involvement in student organizations, campus initiatives, or leadership roles
Essential Skills and

Competencies:
  • General knowledge of insurance and actuarial science
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines
  • Successful completion of one or more CAS/SOA Exam; P or FM
  • Technical proficiency in Excel and SQL; familiarity with VBA, Power BI, R, or Python is desirable but not required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with internal teams and external partners
  • Effective time management and organizational skills to support multiple projects
