ART Structurer — New York City or Chicago | $150k–$220k base + bonus

Quick question: when did you last build a solution that didn't exist in a template before you started?

Not adapt one. Not slot a client into the nearest pre-approved programme structure. Build one — from a blank page, with your name on the pitch.

Most technical insurance people who are good enough to structure genuinely bespoke risk end up doing something narrower instead — underwriting within someone else's appetite, broking someone else's paper, running the numbers on a deal someone more senior gets to present.

You're capable of more than the box you're currently working in, and you probably know it.

Here's the honest part: ART doesn't get talked about properly.

It's constantly lumped in under "reinsurance" as if it's the same job with a fancier name, when really it sits somewhere between underwriting, structuring, sales and law — captives, fronting arrangements, multi-year programmes, parametric covers for risks that don't fit a standard policy.

If you've spent any time near it, you already know it's one of the more interesting seats in the industry.

If you haven't, this is your way in.

IDEX are working with this globally recognised name in complex risk solutions, working with many of the world's largest multinationals on programmes that go well beyond anything off-the-shelf.

This is a hybrid sales-and-underwriting role — you'll be sourcing, structuring and selling bespoke solutions alongside underwriting, distribution and broking teams, then coordinating internally across legal, actuarial, tax and finance to actually get the thing built and bound.

You'll be in front of risk managers and C-suite stakeholders directly, building your own pipeline, travelling genuinely across the U.S. — not just to conferences, to clients.

It won't all be glamorous. There's real internal coordination involved — legal sign-off, regulatory nuance, actuarial back-and-forth — and building a book from scratch takes patience even when you're good ody hands you a renewal list here.

You're probably right for this if you've got 5–6 years in property underwriting, structured reinsurance, technical broking or ART itself — or you're a front-office actuary with genuine commercial exposure who wants out from behind the model.

A degree in finance, economics or maths helps, though equivalent experience is taken seriously.

Beyond that: you need to actually enjoy complexity, not just tolerate it, and you need to want to build something rather than administer it.
