Insurance M&A / Insurance Solutions Associate New York, NY | Multiple Live Mandates | Confidential Search via Oliver James About This Search
Oliver James is working several live mandates for leading alternative asset managers building out insurance and reinsurance investing platforms in New York, including insurance focused M&A, strategic transactions, and portfolio work across life, annuity, P&C, and specialty lines. This posting covers a shared candidate profile across those mandates. Specific firm, team, and comp details are shared once we've had an initial conversation and confirmed fit.
The RoleAs an Associate (or Senior Analyst, depending on the platform) on an insurance investing or insurance M&A team, you'll work directly with senior investment professionals on deal execution, financial modeling, and ongoing portfolio monitoring across insurance and reinsurance relationships.
Responsibilities generally include:
- Financial due diligence and valuation on insurance and reinsurance transactions, including block trades, reinsurance treaties, and corporate acquisitions
- Building and maintaining integrated deal models covering structuring, returns, and asset-liability dynamics
- Preparing investment committee materials, investment memos, and external presentations
- Coordinating with actuarial, investment, and operating teams through the life of a deal
- Tracking cedent and portfolio performance against underwriting assumptions
- Assessing new market entry, product strategy, and business line expansion opportunities
- 2-5 years of experience in FIG investment banking, insurance M&A, insurance asset management, private equity, corporate development, or actuarial advisory
- Direct exposure to insurance or reinsurance transactions across any line of business (life, annuity, P&C, specialty, or run off)
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with the ability to build models that bring together liability, asset, capital, and earnings considerations
- Genuine interest in general account investing, ALM, reinsurance structures, or insurance linked capital solutions
- Comfortable operating in a lean, fast-moving team with broad responsibility from day one
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, able to author materials for senior leadership and investment committees
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field
- Actuarial credentials (ASA, FSA) or Bermuda reinsurance market exposure are a plus, not a requirement
These are some of the most active platforms building out insurance and reinsurance strategies right now, with real deal flow, direct senior exposure, and genuine scope to grow with the business. We're speaking with candidates for several live roles at once, so one conversation can open up multiple opportunities rather than a single application.
