A leading insurance services firm, one of the top in the country and workld is seeking a Senior Underwriter to join its expanding National Programs team. This is a high‑impact role for an experienced multiline underwriter with strong casualty expertise and meaningful leadership experience, including mentoring or managing underwriting talent. The Senior Underwriter will drive profitable growth, strengthen broker relationships, and influence program strategy across a diverse portfolio spanning General Liability, Professional Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Property, Excess, Auto, and Crime

This position sits at the center of a fast‑moving, production‑driven MGU environment. The Senior Underwriter will lead complex account negotiations, guide junior underwriters, and serve as a trusted technical resource for both underwriting and program leadership. With a portfolio weighted toward casualty and supported by property, this role offers the opportunity to shape appetite, refine underwriting strategy, and contribute directly to program expansion.
Key Responsibilities- Underwrite and negotiate new and renewal business within delegated authority across GL, PL, WC, Property, Excess, Auto, and Crime
, with a strong focus on casualty. - Evaluate complex risks, develop tailored coverage solutions, and apply disciplined pricing strategies to support profitable growth.
- Mentor, coach, and oversee junior underwriters, providing technical guidance, workflow direction, and skill development.
- Build and strengthen broker relationships to drive new business production and support long‑term program growth.
- Partner with program leadership on appetite refinement, product enhancements, and strategic initiatives across multiline programs.
- Analyze underwriting data, loss trends, and performance metrics to support sound decision‑making and portfolio management.
- Ensure compliance with underwriting standards, regulatory requirements, and program‑specific procedures.
- Contribute to operational improvements, including process optimization, documentation, and best‑practice development.
- 7+ years of multiline commercial underwriting experience, with strong casualty expertise and property familiarity.
- Demonstrated experience mentoring, coaching, or managing underwriters or underwriting assistants.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex risks and apply sound judgment.
- Proven ability to build and maintain productive broker relationships in a competitive market.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present underwriting decisions and collaborate across teams.
- Highly organized, self‑motivated, and comfortable in a fast‑paced, production‑driven MGU environment.
