Finance; Distressed Debt - Associate

The New York office of Alston & Bird is seeking a Finance associate with 1-3 years’ experience. The attorney will work with the Distressed Debt & Claims Trading Team. Although not necessary, ideal candidates will have a basic working knowledge of corporate bankruptcy, creditor rights, liability management transactions, and experience in the corporate loan market (whether in the broadly syndicated market or private credit).

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to represent, among other parties, trading desks of leading wall street banks, broker-dealers, leading wall street credit funds, and CLOs. The work relates to representing both sell-side and buy-side clients on legal and transactional issues related to all aspects of buying and selling domestic and international par and distressed assets, including primary and secondary loans, private debt securities, reorganized equity interests, and bankruptcy claims.

This practice group is a high volume, fast paced group that works alongside trends of the stock market. The ability to be organized, highly responsive, multi-task, and manage a large number of different projects simultaneously is critical. Candidates should possess excellent academic credentials and strong verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills. The salary range for this position is $225,000 - $260,000 and represents the Firm's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at this time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, and locations. This range is specific to our New York City office and may not be applicable to other locations.
