Insurance Defense Partner – Portable Business Required

About the Opportunity:

A premier litigation boutique with offices in Westchester and Central New Jersey seeks an experienced Insurance Defense Partner to join its thriving Insurance Practice Group. This is a unique opportunity for a senior-level attorney with a portable book of business to integrate into a highly respected and strategically growing team.

This firm provides aggressive, sophisticated litigation services to insurers and self-insured entities across first- and third-party coverage matters, subrogation, reinsurance disputes, and complex commercial litigation. They are known for taking high-stakes claims from inception through trial and appeal, and are looking for a partner who shares their commitment to exceptional client service, strategic risk management, and litigation excellence.

• A strong litigation bench with attorneys experienced in catastrophe litigation, large loss, transportation, premises liability, municipal defense, insurance fraud (SIU), and coverage disputes.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• 10+ years of insurance defense litigation experience, ideally including first- and third-party claims, coverage analysis, and complex commercial disputes.
• Strong trial and/or arbitration experience preferred.
• Deep knowledge of New York and/or New Jersey insurance law.
• Demonstrated ability to lead high-stakes matters independently and/or as part of a team.
• A portable book of business ($500K+ preferred) with the desire to scale further within a supportive platform.
• Experience advising on catastrophe litigation, municipal claims, transportation liability, or fraud investigations is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

• Represent insurers and self-insured clients in all phases of litigation, including pre-litigation strategy, coverage evaluation, discovery, motion practice, trial, and appeal.
• Provide thoughtful and strategic counsel to clients on litigation avoidance, risk exposure, and regulatory considerations.
• Collaborate with clients to provide internal training and proactive claims management solutions.
• Mentor junior attorneys and contribute to the ongoing development of practice group strengths.
• Cultivate and grow client relationships in alignment with firm values and business development goals.
