The Office of the New York State Attorney General (OAG) seeks experienced prosecutors for the Public Integrity Bureau (PIB) in the Syracuse office. PIB investigates and prosecutes crimes committed by public employees, elected officials, candidates for public office, and entities that steal from the government. Prosecutors with PIB handle complex, long-term investigations into government corruption, fraud, bribery and abuse of authority.
PIB may also work on real estate frauds with the Real Estate Enforcement Unit. PIB handles matters from initial allegation through settlement, plea, or trial. PIB consists of attorneys, detectives, auditors, and analysts.
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicants must have at least five (5) years of legal experience. The ideal candidate will have at least seven (7) years of legal experience, including at least five (5) years as a prosecutor.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and managing complex, document-intensive investigations is required.
- Excellent writing abilities, including drafting complex warrants, with significant grand jury and trial experience, are required.
- Experience investigating crimes and frauds using warrants, eavesdropping warrants, subpoenas; interviewing witnesses; engaging cooperating witnesses; conducting forensic analysis of large data sets; and reviewing financial information is strongly preferred.
- A background in government and policy is desirable.

- Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York state and be admitted to practice law in New York state. Public Officers Law requires OAG attorneys to be U.S. citizens. A two-year commitment upon hire is a condition of employment.
