Opportunity

The Global Pro Bono Coordinator will sit in IRAP’s Global Pro Bono department, a team that responds to the needs of displaced people by developing and implementing high-impact projects and leveraging IRAP’s partners, including law firms, law student chapters, and networks of legal practitioners. The Global Pro Bono Coordinator will provide legal, organizational, and project management support to a variety of the team’s initiatives, including coordination and relationship management with student chapters, case placement with law firm attorneys, supporting the creation and dissemination of legal training and resources to improve legal services, and project planning and implementation.

The Global Pro Bono Coordinator will report to the Director of Global Pro Bono and will work closely and collaboratively with the Director of Legal Knowledge & Training.

Responsibilities
  • Project Management
  • Support the development and implementation of new projects for IRAP’s student network, such as limited representation cases, advocacy efforts tailored to local community needs, research projects, and other learning opportunities.
  • Assist with pro bono legal representation projects placed with law firm partners and led by the pro bono department, such as projects to assist refugees in the U.S. applying to adjust status or reunite with family members outside the U.S.
  • Support the creation and dissemination of legal training, technical assistance, and resources to improve legal services, such as developing legal skills and pathway online training courses or projects to share legal updates with IRAP’s networks.
  • Co-manage the law student fellowship program, including coordinating recruitment and programming.
  • Coordinate new pro bono projects, including liaising with other departments and logistical support to clients as needed.
Relationship Management
  • Serve as the point of contact for IRAP’s 28 law school chapters.
  • Build relationships with chapter leaders and law school administrations and support chapters with student engagement.
  • Engage in creative visioning around the future of student work at IRAP in collaboration with the Director of Global Pro Bono.
  • Lead planning and coordination for student events, including the annual Student Summit and Advocacy Week.
Administrative Support
  • Assist with the preparation of new cases for placement with law firm attorneys, including by providing law firms with case‑related and conflicts information, drafting case summaries and notes, communicating with law firm contacts, and creating and organizing case files.
  • Update and manage IRAP’s legal trainings and resources, collaborating with staff across IRAP as required.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for casework, quality assurance mechanisms, and case file management.
  • Support the Director of Global Pro Bono with development and operations‑related tasks.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree plus 1‑2 years of relevant work experience or 4‑6 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience: Experience working in legal settings or mobilizing students is a plus.
