A large, privately held US company with diversified operations spanning energy, real estate, finance, insurance, and retail. The organization owns and manages a substantial real estate portfolio, including commercial properties nationwide and residential properties concentrated in New York and Florida.
The company continues to expand, offering its legal team a wide variety of work across multiple business units.
The Legal TeamThis role sits within a collaborative in-house legal department led by the General Counsel, working alongside a team of experienced attorneys across real estate, corporate, and litigation matters.
This role is on-site 5 days a week with occasional flexibility to WFH.
Role OverviewThe company is seeking a versatile Real Estate Associate to support its broad and growing real estate operations. The ideal candidate will have strong real estate transactional experience - especially leasing - and an interest in gaining experience in litigation and wider in‑house commercial work. Prior litigation experience is not required.
Key Responsibilities- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and residential leases and access agreements.
- Support ongoing operations of a multi‑state property portfolio.
- Coordinate with outside counsel on specialized real estate matters.
- Assist with due diligence, acquisitions, development projects, and compliance matters.
- Manage day‑to‑day litigation activities in coordination with external counsel.
- Draft initial legal filings and assist with discovery (training provided).
- Provide general commercial legal support across the company’s various business units.
- 3–5 years of legal experience, ideally gained in a reputable firm or in‑house environment.
- Strong background in commercial real estate, particularly leasing.
- Interest in broadening into litigation and general commercial in‑house matters.
- Able to thrive in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong communication skills and a practical, solutions‑oriented approach.
