Location: New York
Beacon Hill Legal’s client, a boutique real estate investment company, is seeking a Real Estate Paralegal for a 3‑month contract coverage, with the potential for extension.
Candidates must have 5+ years of experience in a corporate legal department or law firm, preparing and drafting leases, amendments, letter agreements, termination/surrender agreements, telecommunication license agreements, SNDAs, estoppel certificates.
Candidates must be comfortable commuting to the office five times a week and be available for overtime as business needs arise.
Primary Responsibilities- Coordinate documents with Leasing, Property Management, Asset Management and Acquisitions teams
- Prepare all general correspondence and legal leasing documents including leases, amendments, letter agreements, termination/surrender agreements, telecommunication license agreements, SNDAs, estoppel certificates
- Work with the Acquisitions Department on re‑financings, sales and dispositions
- Serve as liaison for Tenants and Building Managers and respond to internal/external inquiries about leases/tenants
- Handle limited personal functions transactions and renewing memberships and subscriptions
- Coordinate appointments and meetings
- Process accounts receivable/accounts payable invoices
- Compose/distribute confidential correspondence, including email
- Interface with attorneys, banks and buildings’ staff and tenants
- Conduct Internet and subscription source research on various topics
- Keep all legal files well‑organized, including preparing labels and electronic counterparts
- Upload documents to internal corporate filing systems (File Star and Lease Tracker)
- 5+ years relevant experience in a law firm or corporate legal department required and specifically in drafting, editing, and back lining lease related documents
- Real Estate‑specific experience is preferred.
Skills & Qualifications
- Ability to commute to the office in Midtown daily
- Advanced use of Microsoft Word (tables of content, black lining, document retrieval)
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, mainly for expense reports
- Need for confidentiality/discretion
- Must be prepared to report quarterly personal stock trading activity to comply with requirements applicable to registered investment advisors
- Must be prepared to submit writing samples and references
