Role DescriptionThe Associate Attorney – Trusts & Estates is a full-time, in-office position responsible for delivering high-level estate planning and related legal services to the firm’s clients. This role involves both independent case management and close collaboration with senior attorneys and staff. The Associate Attorney will conduct consultations, draft and review sophisticated estate planning documents, assist with probate and trust administration matters, and provide strategic guidance to clients regarding asset protection and tax-efficient planning.
The ideal candidate is analytical, detail-oriented, client-focused, and comfortable handling complex legal and fiduciary matters with professionalism and discretion. This position plays a critical role in client satisfaction, legal accuracy, and the continued growth of the firm’s Estate Planning and Elder Law practice.
- Conduct initial consultations with prospective and existing clients.
- Draft and review wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, powers of attorney, healthcare directives, and advance directives.
- Assist with trust administration and probate matters from initiation through resolution.
- Counsel clients on estate planning strategies, asset protection techniques, and tax-efficient planning structures.
- Perform legal research on complex estate, tax, Medicaid, and fiduciary issues.
- Manage multiple client matters simultaneously while maintaining strict attention to deadlines and document accuracy.
- Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, financial advisors, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive client solutions.
- Maintain organized and compliant client files in accordance with firm policies and ethical standards.
- Provide clear, practical legal guidance while maintaining a professional, client-centered demeanor.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active license and good standing in New York State.
- 1–5 years of experience in trusts & estates, corporate law, estate planning, probate, or elder law.
- Experience drafting estate planning documents, including wills, revocable trusts, powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
- Working knowledge of probate and trust administration procedures.
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and document accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple client matters simultaneously in a structured, deadline-driven environment.
- Professional, client-focused demeanor with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly and confidently to clients.
The salary range for the role is $90,000 - $115,000 per year.
