** Role and Responsibilities**
* ** Strategic Legal Leadership:
** Advise executive leadership on underwriting, claims, product, and distribution matters with business-focused legal guidance.
* ** Team Leadership:
** Lead and develop the legal team, promoting a high-performing, collaborative function.
* ** Corporate Governance:
** Oversee board support, corporate records, and entity management, ensuring compliance with insurance regulations.
* ** Risk & Compliance:
** Identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks, including coverage, bad faith, and market conduct exposure.
* ** Coverage & Product Support:
** Counsel underwriting/product teams on policy language, endorsements, and filings.
* ** Contracting & Distribution:
** Supervise negotiation and drafting of key insurance-related agreements (TPA, MGA/MGU, reinsurance, producer, vendor).
* ** Regulatory Guidance:
** Monitor insurance law and DOI developments to maintain operational compliance.
* ** Litigation Management:
** Direct disputes, coverage litigation, and outside counsel strategy.
* ** Cross-Functional Partnership:
** Collaborate across claims, underwriting, compliance, actuarial, and finance.
