Location: New York

Legal services firm in Manhattan seeks a temporary Paralegal to assist with reviewing legal documents, conducting research and supporting attorneys with calendar management and scheduling.

Temporary role for 3-4 months with potential for extension or permanent hiring

Pay $30/hr

Onsite Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm

Responsibilities
  • Review, draft, and format routine legal documents, including correspondence, pleadings, contracts, discovery materials, and case-related filings, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with court and firm standards.
  • Create, organize, and maintain physical and electronic case files, managing document control, indexing, and version tracking to ensure all materials are easily accessible and audit-ready.
  • Manage attorneys’ calendars and caseloads by tracking court dates, filing deadlines, client meetings, and key milestones; proactively provide timely reminders and ensure all deliverables are prepared and submitted in advance of deadlines.
  • Conduct legal research using online databases and other resources to support case strategy, draft memoranda, summarize findings, and verify citations.
  • Coordinate with clients, court personnel, and external parties to gather information, schedule meetings, and facilitate the smooth progression of matters.
  • Prepare materials for hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials, including assembling exhibits, binders, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality while handling sensitive legal and client information.
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience as a legal secretary or assistant or paralegal
  • Bachelor's degree or Paralegal certificate
  • Interest in social justice, family law, immigration law
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
