We are looking for a Head of Legal & Compliance (US) to join us at INSHUR! Based out of our New York City office, with offices in Westlake, CA and Dallas, TX

As Head of Legal & Compliance (US) you will lead the US legal and compliance function, serve as a key business partner to the US management team, and help shape how INSHUR grows responsibly across the country. This is a high-impact, succession-track role built for someone who is ready to step up as a strategic leader, and, over time, potentially step into the Group General Counsel position itself.

You’ll be working on:

• Be the Regulatory Authority
  :
  Be the primary advisor on US insurance regulatory compliance, the practical, trusted expert that operations and technical teams turn to when it matters.
• Build and Protect Our Regulatory Relationships
  :
  Maintain and strengthen INSHUR's relationships with US insurance regulators, resolving matters around product forms, rate questions, and filings across 5+ key states, including New York and California.
• Support Compliant, Confident Growth
  :
  Provide the legal foundation for our Surplus Lines, P&C, Risk Retention and Purchasing Group, and Lloyd's Cover holder business, ensuring growth and integrity always move together.
• Steward Our Intellectual Property
  :
  Own INSHUR's US IP strategy, safeguarding the proprietary assets that underpin our products and coordinating with external specialists on trademarks and licensing.
• Advise and Protect the Business
  :
  From M&A and funding rounds to US employment matters and HR policy, you'll oversee external counsel and provide considered internal guidance that keeps things moving responsibly.
• Help Shape a Global Compliance Framework
  :
  Working closely with the Group GC, you'll develop and implement risk and compliance frameworks that connect US and international standards, work with genuinely global reach.
• Have a Seat at the Table, and Prepare for More
  :
  Advise US senior leadership and build your readiness to engage with the Group Board. This role is designed to grow with you, and for you to grow beyond it.
• Pioneer What AI Means for Legal and Compliance
  :
  Help define how AI is used within the US Legal and Compliance function, shaping an approach that raises the bar for what in-house teams can achieve. Few roles at this level offer the chance to build something really meaningful in this space.

• 🎓 Licensed Attorney
  :
  You hold an active license to practise law in the US.
• ⚖️ Deep P&C and Surplus Lines Expertise
  :
  You have substantial experience in US insurance law, particularly in P&C, Surplus Lines, and ideally Lloyd's Cover holder structures, and Risk Purchasing/Retention Group mechanisms.
• 🏛️ US Insurance Regulatory Affairs Experience
