Position OverviewA well-established precision manufacturing organisation is seeking a Director of Supply Chain to lead and optimise end-to-end supply chain operations. This role has responsibility across procurement, production planning, inventory management, logistics, and supplier development in a complex, high-mix manufacturing environment.
The Director of Supply Chain will be accountable for scaling supply chain capability, improving working capital performance, and building robust systems, processes, and talent to support continued operational excellence and customer satisfaction.
This position requires a hands-on, resilient leader with the drive to deliver results in demanding, fast-paced manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute an integrated supply chain strategy aligned with operational, quality, and financial objectives
- Lead procurement, production planning, material planning, inventory management, and logistics functions
- Drive maturity and continuous improvement across planning, procurement, and logistics processes
- Build and maintain a resilient, cost-effective, and quality-focused supplier network
- Lead implementation and optimisation of ERP/MRP-based planning systems
- Define, monitor, and improve key supply chain KPIs (e.g., service levels, inventory turns, supplier performance, forecast accuracy)
- Own and lead the S&OP / integrated planning process to align supply with demand
- Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Program Management to support new product introduction and design transfer
- Lead initiatives to mitigate supply risk, reduce lead times, and improve planning accuracy
- Support make-versus-buy decisions and sourcing strategies
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, quality, and ethical sourcing standards
- Act as the senior supply chain representative in site and executive leadership forums
- Lead and develop a multi-disciplinary supply chain team across planning, procurement, and logistics
- Build a high-performance, collaborative culture grounded in accountability and continuous improvement
- Coach and develop managers and high-potential talent to strengthen the leadership pipeline
- Establish clear goals, performance expectations, and development plans
- Promote cross-training and functional flexibility within the supply chain organisation
- Model inclusive, transparent, and servant-oriented leadership behaviours
- Workforce planning, hiring, performance management, and development
- Department goal setting, execution, variance analysis, and corrective actions
- Continuous improvement of methods, tools, and processes
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or a related field
- Advanced degree or professional certification preferred
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing supply chain roles
- Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, integrated planning, and lean supply chain principles
- Experience operating in regulated or quality-critical manufacturing environments preferred
- Demonstrated success leading transformation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to influence cross-functionally at both operational and executive levels
- Formal lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement training is a plus
- US Citizenship required - this is an ITAR-regulated environment
