Eastern Staffing & Recruiting is recruiting a Buyer in the supply chain department for our manufacturing client in Owego, NY. The Buyer is responsible for procurement of ingredients/raw materials, packaging, and operating supplies. The Buyer is also responsible for following established procurement policies and guidelines, managing supplier relationships, accurate pricing, on time deliveries, and terms in accordance with all agreements and policies.

• Owns tactical execution of supply strategy.

• Responsible to analyze the material requirements planning to procure the correct material for the required production dates.

• Issues, manages, and maintains purchasing documents as directed by the material requirements planning or non-production requisition.

• Cost, schedule, and inventory accountability for production & non-production material.

• Monitors supplier performance and provides regular feedback to the Director of Supply Chain and Quality.

• Reviews all delivery issues and takes appropriate action to prevent schedule interruption.

• Develop and qualify new suppliers' injunction with engineering.

• Work to meet cost saving goals set by management.

• Negotiate with suppliers for the most competitive overall cost of products.

• May include other duties as assigned and/or special projects.

• 1-2 years of experience as a Buyer in a manufacturing environment.

• BS in Business or other technical discipline is preferred.

• Experience with assemblies, components, and metal fabrication.

• Detail oriented and the ability to think out of the box.

• Excellent negotiation, interpersonal, and general communication skills.

• Organizational skills with attention to detail.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to function well in a fast-paced environment.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office

• Experience with ERP / MRP systems.

• Must be able to travel to suppliers.
The estimated hourly salary range for this position is $22-$25 per hour though a candidate's salary will be determined on a range of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications and experience.
