Purchasing Agent in Washington Heights, NY

Our client, a growing manufacturer, is seeking a Purchasing Agent to support day‑to‑day procurement operations in the Washington Heights, NY area. This hands‑on role is responsible for purchasing raw materials and supplies, maintaining inventory levels, coordinating with suppliers, and ensuring on‑time material availability to support production. The ideal candidate has experience in a manufacturing environment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced setting.

• Execute purchase orders and manage supplier communications for assigned commodities.
• Monitor inventory levels using MRP/ERP systems to maintain material availability while meeting inventory targets.
• Expedite orders, resolve supplier delivery issues, and manage pricing, quantity, and receiving discrepancies.
• Coordinate inbound shipments and select cost‑effective transportation methods.
• Support supplier performance, cost savings initiatives, and second‑source qualification activities.
• Maintain accurate product and purchasing data within ERP systems.
• Partner with warehouse, accounting, customer service, quality, and R&D teams to support daily operations and product commercialization.
• Assist with supplier documentation, product approvals, and inventory reporting.

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field preferred.
• 2–3 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with MRP/ERP systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving, negotiation, and organizational abilities.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across multiple departments.
