Purchasing Buyer

We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategically minded Purchaser with a background in landscaping to join our team.

This role is critical in aligning our procurement strategy with business goals, ensuring we secure the best plant materials, hardscape products, and supplies to elevate our landscaping projects and client satisfaction.

• Strategically source and procure plant material, trees, shrubs, and hardscape elements from local, regional, and specialty suppliers.
• Evaluate and select vendors for premium seasonal items, unique hardscape materials, and specialty landscape products.
• Negotiate contracts and delivery schedules to secure cost-effective and timely supply for both ongoing and seasonal projects.
• Track seasonal inventory and anticipate needs, ensuring materials arrive ahead of planting and project phases.
• Collaborate closely with the Director, Sales Team, Account Manager, project managers, and field teams to ensure seamless material availability for all projects.
• Partner closely with yard staff, ensuring all plant material is cared for and stored appropriately to maximize health and performance.
• Act as a secondary subject matter expert for all design and plant material selections, ensuring species are appropriately chosen based on project details and providing qualified substitutions if unavailable.
• Coordinate with the yard to arrange delivery, pickup, and proper disposal of all debris for the construction and landscape departments.
• Provide detailed monthly reports of all purchases related to sales, analyzing overall costs to ensure alignment with project budgets.
• Create and maintain procedures that assist the sales team, account managers, and directors by providing prompt pricing and availability. This includes developing an internal price sheet of the most common trees, shrubs, and annuals, keeping this document live and up-to-date for easy access by all members involved in sales.

• Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture, Business, or a related field.
• 3+ years of procurement experience, ideally in the landscaping, nursery, or construction sectors.
• Deep knowledge of plant species, landscape materials, and supplier networks.
• Proven negotiation skills and vendor relationship management.
• Proficiency with procurement systems, landscape design software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong organizational skills, with a keen awareness of seasonal cycles and project deadlines.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage multiple vendors, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Salary range: $75,000 - $85,000 per year
