A well-established freight forwarding company in Jamaica, NY is seeking an Import Operations Coordinator with hands-on experience in air and/or ocean import operations. This role requires someone who can manage shipments from start to finish, communicate effectively with clients and carriers, and ensure smooth, compliant movement of cargo.

The ideal candidate has a solid understanding of import documentation, customs processes, and the day-to-day workflow of a freight forwarder.

• Manage import shipments (air and/or ocean) from booking through final delivery
• Coordinate with airlines, steamship lines, truckers, and customs brokers
• Prepare and review import documentation including ISF, arrival notices, commercial invoices, packing lists, and delivery orders
• Track and trace shipments, update internal systems, and maintain accurate records
• Communicate with clients regarding shipment status, delays, and required documents
• Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs and other regulatory requirements
• Resolve operational issues quickly and professionally
• Work closely with internal teams to support smooth logistics operations

• Experience in import operations within a freight forwarding environment
• Knowledge of air and/or ocean freight processes
• Ability to manage shipments independently from start to finish
• Strong understanding of import documentation and customs procedures
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work on-site in Jamaica, NY
• Proficiency with freight/logistics software is a plus

• Salary range: $55,000–$70,000, depending on experience
