The RoleThe Junior Supply Planner is responsible for day-to-day planning, purchasing, and replenishment activities for the Meat category. In addition to ensuring that inventory is available at all warehouse locations and in optimized quantities, this role will liaise daily with vendor contacts as well as receiving, inventory control and accounting teams to ensure all orders and invoices are processed and reconciled accurately and in a timely manner.
The ideal candidate will have experience and a strong understanding of purchasing and replenishment methods, inventory management, and vendor management.
- Write and manage purchase orders for the Meat, and potentially Poultry departments.
- Maintain and update SAP source and requisition configuration based on vendor settings.
- Follow up with vendors and merchant teams on product deliveries, out of stock issues, expiration, and pricing issues.
- Schedule and resolve goods pickups, returns and credits with vendors and accounting departments.
- Review manufacturing settings for raw material and proactively adjust to create efficiencies.
- Validate vendor invoices to ensure correct purchasing price and quantities are issued.
- Work with warehouse teams to ensure products are received timely and accurately, and trouble shoot, days on hand, delivery and receiving issues.
- Engage with merchants and demand planning to forecast and replenish in accordance with promotional plans, key holidays, seasonal transitions, and allocations.
- Preferred Bachelors Degree and/or demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities through previous experience and/or education.
- At least 1 year in food focused industry operations, merchandising or procurement.
- Experience with Microsoft Suite required; SAP knowledge strongly preferred.
- Experience managing procurement and vendor management for perishable products.
- Proven ability to be resourceful, pro-active, and a self-starter.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- High level of enthusiasm, initiative, and solution driven mindset.
