The Janitors will report to and work under the supervision of the Community Complex Supervisor.
Position SummaryThe Janitors will perform essential cleaning and maintenance duties to ensure that all MFN community buildings remain clean, hygienic, and well‑maintained. This role will focus on providing a safe and healthy environment for all visitors, staff, and residents by performing regular cleaning tasks, disinfecting surfaces, and maintaining cleanliness in common areas, offices, restrooms, and other facilities. The Janitors will also be responsible for identifying maintenance needs and reporting any issues to the Community Complex Supervisor.
EssentialFunctions
- Overall cleanliness of the building.
- Follow safety protocols, guidelines, and directions.
- Cleaning kitchen supplies such as coffee pot, utensils, and pantry. Including but not limited to collect the garbage, deep cleaning washrooms, sanitizing, dusting, cleaning, putting away, & organizing dishes.
- Deep sanitization of the entire building, furniture, and washrooms on a daily basis.
- Collect all garbage and dispose it appropriately on a daily basis.
- Replenish all cleaning products and hygiene essentials such as toilet paper and paper dispensers.
- Window cleaning when required
- Sweep, mop, vacuum floors
- Communicate any issues, concerns, or updates regarding building maintenance or cleaning requirements to the supervisor in a timely manner.
- Basic outdoor maintenance such as shovelling walkways and/or stairs of the building
- Completing weekly timesheets
- Monitor the supply levels of cleaning products and materials, ensuring an adequate stock and informing Supervisor when stock is required.
- Participate in set‑up and clean‑up for special events, meetings, or seasonal activities when needed.
- Performs other related duties to janitorial services as assigned.
- Must be willing to travel to locations within M’Chigeeng
- Valid G License
- First Aid and CPR
- Good relationships with and knowledge of the community
- Valid WHMIS certification
- Previous janitorial experience
- Ability to work independently and follow a work plan
- Ability to work nights shifts
- Effective communication skills
M’Chigeeng First Nation and its agents are in a position of trust in services to band member children and/or vulnerable adults, so a safe and secure working environment is mandatory. Applicants must provide a VSS clear and/or dated of any convictions relating to sexual interference, sexual assault, or related charges. The VSS must be current 30-days and must be an original.
