Maintenance Worker, Cleaning Services, Summer Seasonal

Hourly Rate: $16.50- $18.00

Position Summary:

Children's Aid runs a summer day camp in Chappaqua, NY that brings together children from Manhattan, the Bronx, and Westchester. Campers and staff are bused to and from the camp each day. The purpose of this camp is to provide traditional summer camp activities (swimming, arts & crafts, sports, horsemanship, etc.) in the context of relationship building. The children who attend this camp are from different socio-economic, cultural, and racial backgrounds, and range in age from 6-13

The Maintenance Aide works in the summer as a seasonal employee. The role is to provide custodial services during the summer day camp (cleaning cabins, bathrooms, dining hall, etc.). It also includes jobs related to maintaining the pools, taking in deliveries, moving equipment, and prepping the facility for the opening of camp.

Essential Duties:

• Custodial care of cabins, dining hall, bathrooms, etc. This means sweeping, mopping, cleaning toilets, restocking paper supplies.
• Collection of all the garbage and emptying receptacles every day.
• Cleaning the pools: vacuuming the pools, cleaning filters, and cleaning the pool deck.
• Cleaning up any spills or bathroom floods that may occur
• Moving equipment throughout the camp for programming needs.
• Set up hoses and water.
• Fulfilling any custodial and maintenance jobs important to help the camp operate in a safe and clean way.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Ability to work in summer weather, inside and outside.
• Team-oriented approach. Willingness to learn new skills while improving current ones.
• H.S. Graduate/GED required
• Ability to lift 40lbs.
