NYU Langone Hospital—Brooklyn is a full‑service teaching hospital and Level I trauma center located in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. It is a key part of NYU Langone Health’s network, providing comprehensive healthcare access in the borough.
Position SummaryWe have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Refrigeration Mechanic – Brooklyn. The role involves performing refrigeration duties, following accepted procedures, and maintaining equipment and supplies for daily operations.
Job Responsibilities- Order supplies and equipment through manager to maintain adequate stock for daily operation and planned activities. Review scheduled work to ensure adequate materials are on hand.
- Provide guidance regarding trade techniques when working with an assigned helper. Coordinate with other shops, clients, and management during emergencies such as floods and fire alarms, including interaction with outside municipal agencies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Inspect work sites to determine needed procedures, materials, and equipment. Transport materials and tools to the work site, and ensure safety procedures are followed.
- Sanitize ice machines, clean water filters, and maintain A/C units, including filter changes and condenser cleaning.
- Schedule work assignments for engineering shop members and maintain records of work time and documentation. Monitor daily work and reassign staff as necessary.
- Communicate objectives and assignments to shop members, provide feedback, and report any delays or issues to supervisor in a timely manner.
- High School Diploma required.
- Five years’ experience in refrigeration mechanics. Graduation from trade or vocational school reduces this to four years.
- Required certifications: EPA Section 608, Certificate of Fitness F60, and Certificate of Fitness G60, obtained within 60 days of hire.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
SalarySalary range: $84,687.67 - $91,911.33 annually. Actual salary depends on experience, education, and hospital need.
