Position Summary
A Housekeeper is primarily responsible for daily cleaning routines of private and public areas such as offices, laboratories, cafeterias, conference rooms, restrooms, dormitories, corridors, stairs, water fountains, elevators, doors, and walls, while ensuring a safe and risk-preventive environment.
Work ScheduleMonday - Friday 6:00 am - 2:30 pm
Responsibilities- Restrooms must be cleaned, monitored, and replenished daily, disinfect basins, urinals, toilet bowls, sweep and mop floors.
- Replenish all dispensers as needed while reporting any damaged or malfunctioning units to a manager or supervisor.
- Remove trash and recycle as needed.
- Periodic cleaning such as vacuuming, mopping, waxing/buffing floors; dust office furniture, vents, corridors, and staircases.
- Snow removal using shovels and power equipment.
- Set up tables and chairs for functions.
- Move furniture as required.
- Operate a motor vehicle to transport garbage as needed.
- Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma.
- 1 year of housekeeping experience is required.
- A valid state-issued driver’s license is preferred.
- Must be able to work the majority of the day, walking, twisting, bending, pushing, and kneeling while working.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Knowledge of various cleaning methods, materials, chemicals, and equipment.
- Must have knowledge of floor and carpet care and equipment such as refinishing, scrubbing, hi-speed burnishing, polishing, shampooing, and extraction.
- Have ability to operate heavy machinery and/or equipment, such as Bob Cat, Forklift, Snow Blowers, Plows, and drive the University’s vehicles.
- Respirator Fit Testing may be required.
Grade 1A – New Hire rate $24.64 and 1 Year of Service rate $25.13.
