Laborer – Niagara County Community College

Pay Range: $17.10/hr – $18.10/hr

Position Status: 12‑Month, Non‑Exempt, Full‑time (40 hrs/week, Monday–Friday, day shift)

Location: Niagara County Community College, 11 buildings across the campus.

General Description: The Laborer is a dependable, detail‑oriented member of our Operations team. The role maintains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors through routine cleaning and maintenance activities. Good listening skills, the ability to follow written and oral instructions, a positive attitude, and strong customer service skills are essential. Reliable attendance is important to support campus activities.

Typical Work

Activities:

  • Clean and service building floors, rooms, and common areas (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing).
  • Clean lighting fixtures, replace bulbs, wash windows, and wipe walls and furniture.
  • Assist with outside work such as walking, shoveling snow, trash pickup, and salting near buildings.
  • Pick up and dispose of trash or soiled linen.
  • Occasionally load and unload trucks related to special event materials and supplies.

Essential Functions:

  • Lift light to moderate weight and perform routine manual work.
  • Work under all weather conditions and maintain physical endurance and condition appropriate for the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • No formal education or experience requirements.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Valid driver’s license at the time of hire; candidates with a license receive $18.10/hr, others receive $17.10/hr.

Desirable

Qualifications:

  • License(s) or certification(s) related to custodial or facilities maintenance is preferred.
