Position Summary:

Maintenance Mechanic is accountable for the entire repair and service work in a facility and is required to comply with the standard operating procedures of the center.

• Painting, plastering and masonry of interior/exterior surfaces.
• Plumbing repairs (except for boiler) as required.
• Light electrical repair and installation.
• Appliance, machinery, lock installation and office furniture repair.
• Carpentry refurbishing and repair as required.
• Coordinate with the NYC DOH and other contractors for necessary maintenance and repairs of the facility.
• Assist in numerous incidental jobs relating to facility/custodial procedures and operations.
• Assist custodial personnel in performing emergency custodial functions.
• Assist in obtaining and dispensing needed equipment, materials, supplies.
• Secure all equipment/tools on a daily basis.
• Remove debris from facility grounds to dump area; maintain landscape and shrubbery, remove snow and perform sidewalk deicing as needed.
• Removal of trash and medical hazardous waste from facility.
• Assist in transporting heavy items manually or otherwise.
• Maintain facility offices/patient care areas including cleaning, vacuuming, and maintenance.
• Responsible for opening/closing facility as required.
• Perform other jobs within the maintenance department as required.
• Other duties as they relate to Facilities Operations.

• H.S. Graduate or GED Certificate
• Minimum 5 years of experience with light electrical, plumbing and carpentry work
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions
