Lead Maintenance Mechanic - Engineer

Hotel Barrière Fouquet’s - NY is looking for several highly qualified and experienced engineers. This role will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks in repair and maintenance of the property and facility, as well as a variety of technical tasks relative to the hotel.

The following list contains essential activities associated with the position.

• Must be able to have face to face interactions with hotel guests and provide personalized, and best-possible service to guests at all times.
• Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints, and or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.
• Anticipate and respond to guest needs quickly, and proactively when possible. Expect and react promptly to guest requirements, requests, and inquires.
• Actively listen and ask questions as needed to fully understand guest complaints/issues. Navigate difficult conversations with best practices, such as: remaining calm and professional, staying empathetic, and displaying confidence that you can help – if/when you can’t help, pull in support from management. Debrief team following difficult conversations.
• Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in mechanical or electrical systems (e.g., HVAC, plumbing) and other equipment throughout the hotel.
• Perform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis.
• Service the hotel's pool, including adjusting chemicals and cleaning filters; completing maintenance request forms and record logs.
• Maintain the building exterior as needed with several projects including lighting, planters, doors/concrete etc.
• Communicate with hotel department heads to become aware of maintenance needs and ensure timely response to internal requests.
• Actively partake in all repairs with Safety in mind
• Must keep everyone informed of progress on day to day activities
• Perform other duties as requested by ownership and management.
• Be skilled in several areas such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry, dry wall, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping.
• Outstanding communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with others.
• Approach all encounters with guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
• Must be proactive in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving issues as necessary.
• Requires a reliable and consistent sense of urgency.

• 3+ year of experience as an Engineer, Hotel experience preferred
• General knowledge of building maintenance and systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and electrical malfunctions in hotel systems and equipment.
• Ability to recognize potential safety hazards and security problems in the hotel and act upon each accordingly.
• Proficient in Basic computer usage
• Ability to prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
• Capacity to work varied shifts, including overnights, weekends and holidays.
• Capacity to maintain regular attendance in compliance with variable scheduling needs of the hotel.
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information
