JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Caretaker (Seasonal) – Greenburgh Library – April 27, 2026 – Until Filled

TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Seasonal – up to 4 months consecutively and maximum of 35 hours per week.
RATE PER HOUR: $22

Under supervision, incumbents of this class are responsible for routine manual work requiring efficient performance of simple groundskeeping and semi-skilled building maintenance tasks. Duties may also involve minor repair tasks. Work is performed according to a well-established routine. When the operation of a heating system is involved, the work required is of an elementary nature. Supervision is not a responsibility of this position.

Does related work as required.

• Sweeps, mops, vacuums, and waxes floors.
• Washes windows.
• Other light cleaning duties as needed.
• Groundskeeping activities as required, weeding, trimming shrubs, planting flowers, and general grounds maintenance such as clearing litter and debris.
• Performs minor repairs to furniture, electrical fixtures, windows, locks, faucets, toilets, and other equipment.
• Program set up – moves and arranges chairs, tables, and other furniture or equipment when needed.
• May undertake simple plumbing, electrical, carpentry or painting tasks.
• May monitor thermostats to control heating and/or air conditioning systems.
• Checks and reports on equipment and the need for major repairs to Administration.

Ability to read and write English. Previous experience in property maintenance, caretaking, or similar role preferred.
