Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EITHER:

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with at least an Associate's degree in School Facilities Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Building Construction Technology or Architectural Technology and two (2) years of experience in school facilities maintenance, general building construction, building maintenance or repair work, or construction management, one year of which shall have included the supervision of subordinate employees; OR,
• Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four (4) years of experience in school facilities maintenance, general building construction, or building maintenance or repair work, or construction management, one year of which must have been at a supervisory level.

• The duties of this position involve responsibility for assisting the Director of Facilities
• in overall supervision of most buildings, grounds and maintenance activities at school complex facilities.
• Work is performed under the general supervision of the Director of Facilities with leeway allowed for the use of independent judgment in carrying out technical phases of the work.
• Supervision is exercised over a large staff of custodial and maintenance personnel.
• Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK

ACTIVITIES:

• Assists in the operation and maintenance of physical plant, equipment and groundskeeping;
• Assists in planning and supervising current and long-range programs for operation and maintenance of physical plant and equipment;
• Inspects painting, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and other mechanical maintenance and construction work performed by staff and outside contractors;
• Inspects buildings and equipment periodically to determine maintenance and repair needs;
• Supervises and oversees the cleaning and custodial activities of the district's buildings, including the management of a large custodial staff;
• Schedules and coordinates preventative building maintenance activities;
• Maintains, orders, and monitors inventory of building cleaning supplies and equipment;
• Recommends major repairs on maintenance that is needed for physical plant and equipment to the superintendent as needed;
• Assists in preparation of budget estimates on all plant operation and maintenance;
• Assist in the hiring, development and training of staff;
• Maintains records such as inventories, cost analysis, employee time sheets, etc and prepares reports.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

• Good knowledge of modern large-scale buildings and grounds operation and maintenance practices;
• Good knowledge of the operation and maintenance of heating and ventilating equipment;
• Good knowledge of the tools, terminology and practices of one or more of the mechanical or building trades;
• Ability to inspect the work of building tradesmen;
• Ability to read from blueprints;
• Ability to plan and supervise building and grounds maintenance activities;
• Mechanical aptitude;
• Dependability;
• Initiative;

Salary range: $85,000 — $100,000. Prorated,commensurate with experience.
