Porter, Maintenance​/Cleaning

Summary We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Porter to support daily cleanliness and organization within our grocery kitchen and back-of-house areas. This role is essential in maintaining a safe, sanitary, and efficient kitchen environment through routine cleaning and support tasks. The Porter reports directly to the Assistant General Manager and works closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations.

Responsibilities Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, prep, storage, refrigeration, and back-of-house areas

Sweep, mop, scrub, and sanitize floors and work spaces in accordance with food safety standards

Empty trash, recycling, and food waste and transport to designated disposal areas

Clean and sanitize sinks, drains, and high-touch kitchen surfaces

Restock cleaning supplies, paper goods, and sanitation materials as needed

Perform routine deep cleaning of equipment exteriors, walls, baseboards, vents, and storage areas

Keep walkways, prep areas, and work spaces clear of debris and address spills promptly

Follow all food safety, sanitation, and OSHA guidelines

Properly use and store cleaning chemicals and equipment

Report maintenance or safety issues to management

Support special cleaning tasks and kitchen projects as needed

Requirements

Prior cleaning, porter, or kitchen support experience preferred

Basic understanding of cleanliness and sanitation standards

Ability to follow instructions and work independently

Reliable, punctual, and consistent work ethic

Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.

Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive motions.

Availability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
