Overview

We are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to lead the day‑to‑day operations of our accounts payable function. This is a hands-on, fast‑paced role responsible for ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency of all financial transactions while managing a team of 3 to 5 accounts payable professionals.

YARDI experience is required.

This role is based in our New York City office with the option for one remote workday per week.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accounts Payable Operations
  • Supervise the daily activities of the AP Payments team (3–5 staff members).
  • Review and verify invoices and expense reports for completeness and accuracy.
  • Code and process invoices in the AP system.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Oversee the annual 1099 process, ensuring compliance and accurate reporting.
  • Prioritize daily workflow and address time-sensitive or urgent items.
  • Maintain and update AP process documentation and standard operating procedures.
Reporting & Compliance
  • Prepare, analyze, and present reports on AP metrics, invoice workflow, aging, and outstanding payables.
  • Support internal and external audit requests, including walkthroughs and documentation.
  • Monitor internal controls to ensure compliance with regulatory, accounting, and company policies.
Leadership & Staff Development
  • Train, mentor, and develop AP team members; set performance goals and conduct evaluations.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that promotes accountability, efficiency, and professional growth.
Vendor & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Manage vendor relationships and facilitate timely resolution of issues.
  • Partner closely with the accounting team and property management teams to support financial operations.
Strategic Financial Support
  • Provide insights and analysis to identify opportunities to enhance AP processes and workflows.
  • Collaborate with senior management to implement process improvements and best practices.
Required

Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounts payable management experience.
  • Proficiency in Yardi is REQUIRED.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and property management accounting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.
  • Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills with proven team leadership experience.

Physical Requirements
