Position SummaryWe have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Project Manager.
The mission of the Real Estate Development and Facilities (RED+F) Department is to plan, develop, operate and maintain the NYU Langone Health campus and provide the foundation for its growth in the 21st century. RED+F provides campus planning and project development services, including architectural studies, programming, design, construction and associated infrastructure and upgrades for new structures and renovations. The department also operates and manages facilities, infrastructure and related support services across the Medical Center.
RED+F is composed of the Real Estate, Housing, Planning & Project Development, Facilities Operations & Management, Finance & Administration, Campus Security, Environmental Services, Environmental Health & Safety, Radiation Safety and Clinical Engineering divisions. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, the Project Manager will oversee projects from planning and design through construction and completion, lead and develop a project team, create a project plan including definition, scope and budgets with input from team members, consultants and clients.
- Lead project team meetings with NYU in-house personnel to schedule work and coordinate shutdowns, tie-ins and contractor access.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrate advanced analytical and quantitative skills; intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Perform periodic inspections of job site conditions and project progress, which might involve temporary exposure to unsafe conditions (e.g., climbing stairs and ladders, accessing roofs, inspecting mechanical and electrical rooms).
- Set and be accountable for department deadlines.
- Develop and maintain successful customer relations and ensure smooth delivery of projects.
- Maintain strong project management across design, construction, occupancy, and budget; interface with clients to define requirements and establish work plans and deadlines; create persuasive presentations; qualify contractors by reviewing bids and related documents; facilitate client meetings; represent the client with architects, vendors, consultants, and regulatory agencies; oversee consultants and contractors as appropriate to project scope and size.
- Maintain interface with client and internal business units to ensure contract compliance and performance specifications, including cost savings and customer service criteria.
- Ensure accessibility to construction sites and coordinate schedules with NYU hospital and school functions.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the organization’s Service Standards and apply them in performance of duties.
- Review documents for compliance with NYU standards and site conditions.
- Participate in cost control activities by seeking effective delivery methods.
- Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS), preferably in Construction Management, Engineering or Architecture
- 3 years of project management experience; experience on two sides of the business (e.g., consultant, owner, owner representative, contract/architect, contractor, engineer) is a plus.
- Experience in related fields preferred
