Position Summary
The Manager of Community Groups is responsible for overseeing the development, growth, and health of Community Groups within the organization. This role includes creating and implementing systems for leader recruitment, training, care, and ongoing support, with the goal of cultivating a strong culture of multiplication and discipleship. The Manager of Community Groups will also manage important ministry pathways for community groups, including leadership development events, lay leader-coaching, teaching opportunities, and broader efforts to foster deeper discipleship and community group engagement both in the church and in the city.
Community Group Leadership & Development (80%)
Community Group Oversight & Strategy
- Provide vision, direction, and oversight to Community Groups in alignment with RES’s mission and values.
- Inspire and empower Community Groups to be disciples of Christ and make disciples of Christ by embodying cross cultural gospel love and mission.
- Strategically develop and mobilize groups toward deeper discipleship and city engagement.
- Regularly assess the health and effectiveness of Community Groups and implement strategies for improvement with Director and Coordinator of Community Groups.
- Visit assigned groups for care, coaching, and feedback.
- Work alongside the Director of Community to increase the overall health and effectiveness of the Community Life system.
Leader Development & Care
- Recruit, train, and care for Community Group leaders, equipping them to lead with theological depth, cultural intelligence, and pastoral care.
- Identify and develop leader-coaches to provide ongoing support and shepherding for group leaders.
- Pursue Community Group leaders proactively for support, feedback, and pastoral care.
- Provide coaching and consulting to leaders and leader-coaches as needed.
- Collaborate with other ministry directors to offer leader training, development, and formation opportunities.
- Promptly report any safeguarding concerns to the Director of Care.
- Design and implement systems for leader recruitment, group multiplication, and leadership pipelines.
- Write, review, and adapt curriculum for use in Community Groups, ensuring alignment with RES’s vision and Scripture as the authority.
- Collaborate with the Communications team on announcements, social media content, and monthly newsletters related to Community Groups.
- Coordinate with the Connections Team to integrate newcomers into Community Groups through CG Basics, New Leader Trainings, and retreats/conferences.
Team Collaboration & Organizational Alignment
- Meet regularly with the Director of Community to shape church-wide strategies and goals reflecting Community team values.
- Participate in annual planning, budgeting, and resource allocation to support the mission and growth of Community Groups.
- Teach classes and contribute to the development of teaching content as needed.
Pastoral and Leadership Responsibilities (20%)
- Actively pursue spiritual and professional development as a pastoral leader.
- Shepherd leaders and emerging leaders in their spiritual formation, emotional health, and leadership capacity.
- Maintain a visible and engaged presence at worship services and congregational events.
- Participate in the general pastoral care of the congregation, integrating the RES care model as appropriate.
