Equal Access is partnering with a well-established New York based real estate management firm seeking an experienced and dynamic Compliance Manager. With over 40 years of experience in multifamily housing operations. The company specializes in affordable, rent-stabilized, senior, and LIHTC communities across the NY/NJ metropolitan area. Known for long-term property retention and strong agency partnerships, they deliver stable, compliance-driven management.
Position SummaryThe Assistant Compliance Manager supports the administration of affordable housing programs by ensuring full compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role is responsible for reviewing tenant eligibility, maintaining accurate compliance records, supporting audits, and assisting property management staff with regulatory requirements. Programs may include LIHTC, HUD, HOME, Section 8, and other applicable funding sources.
Key Responsibilities- Review and approve applicant and resident files to verify income eligibility and ensure compliance with LIHTC, HUD, HOME, Section 8, and other applicable programs.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of initial, annual, and interim certifications, resolving documentation discrepancies as needed.
- Maintain compliance records and databases to track recertifications and regulatory deadlines.
- Conduct internal file reviews and assist in preparation for external audits and agency inspections.
- Monitor compliance with occupancy standards, rent limits, and utility allowances.
- Prepare required compliance reports for funding agencies, investors, and syndicators.
- Provide guidance and support to property management staff on compliance-related matters.
- Utilize Yardi and other compliance systems to manage and maintain regulatory data.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Real Estate, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in affordable housing compliance or property management with compliance responsibilities.
- Working knowledge of LIHTC, HUD, Section 8, HOME, and other affordable housing regulations.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with housing compliance software (Yardi preferred).
- Certification in affordable housing compliance required (e.g., COS, TCS, HCCP/LIHTC, or similar).
- Bilingual in Spanish required.

Compensation: $70,000 - $80,000
