Brief Description Overview
Baldor Safety professionals work in partnership with Operations, Fresh Cuts, Transportation, Human Resources, Facilities, Sanitation, and Food Safety teams. Under the direction of Baldor leadership, this role is responsible for ensuring the safety of all personnel at the Bronx location. The Safety Supervisor ensures that Baldor Specialty Foods employees operate in an environment that meets minimum safety standards and incorporates industry best practices.
This position supports the implementation of safety programs, plans, policies, and procedures to protect employees, contractors, and visitors while reducing overall risk. The role includes direct oversight of Safety Specialists and Safety Team Leads and requires knowledge across multiple regulatory areas including OSHA, ANSI, EPA, FDNY, FDA, and other applicable regulations and company standards. The Safety Supervisor responds to injury notifications, unsafe conditions, conducts inspections, and provides education, training, and feedback to Operations teams.
This position plays a key role in building and strengthening the overall safety program in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of safety concepts and principles
- Oversee daily departmental workflow with minimal guidance
- Supervise Safety Specialists and Safety Team Leads
- Triage safety communications and support ongoing safety program initiatives
- Implement and execute Baldor safety policies and procedures
- Maintain a strong and supportive presence on the facility floor
- Build and maintain effective relationships with leaders, peers, vendors, and partners
- Support leadership decisions and ensure follow-through with team responsibilities
- Investigate safety incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions
- Serve as a resource and mentor to less experienced team members
- Handle complex safety issues and elevate to the Safety Director as needed
- Support additional projects and initiatives as assigned
- Model and exemplify ideal safety practices at all times
- Professional demeanor; treats all personnel and visitors with respect
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety practices
- Comprehensive knowledge of safety principles and regulatory standards
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent written communication skills preferred
- Ability to multitask and work independently while contributing to team success
- English proficiency required;
Spanish or French a plus
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- OSHA 30 certification required
- OSHA Training Institute 500-level courses preferred
- 4+ years of relevant safety experience
- Progressive expansion of responsibilities within the safety field
- Experience providing informal or formal leadership, coaching, or mentoring
- Experience working in a warehouse environment
- Subject matter expertise relevant to safety and regulatory compliance
- First, second, or third shift depending on business needs
- On-site work in a warehouse and food processing environment
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to learn to operate a powered industrial truck
- Ability to learn and execute first aid response and accident investigations
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a cold environment
- Ability to push, pull, and reach without accommodation
